Many young people today carry a quiet worry about the state of the planet — and very few places where they can do something concrete about it. Youth for Sustainable Futures brings together 40 young people from Romania and Hungary for eight days in a Transylvanian village and turns that worry into something usable: practical skills, a plan, and a network of people who share it.

Everything happens through non-formal education. No lectures, no exams, no one talking at you from the front of a room. Instead you will sort real waste, follow a plastic bottle through the deposit-return system, walk the fields and orchards around the venue to see biodiversity up close, repair and upcycle textiles with your own hands, and design a local eco-initiative you can actually launch when you get home.

This exchange relies on a wide spectrum of non-formal education methods, chosen to keep everyone active, to let participants teach each other, and to build environmental awareness that is felt as well as understood. The methodology follows a logical flow: first group cohesion, then systemic understanding, then action planning.
